How To DIY Your Holidays
Scene: Hobby Lobby
You're completely stressed out with three kids in tow and your iphone (or android) in hand with a (ok lets be honest several) Pinterest idea(s), and you are determined. So you start. You start off determined and end in defeat. You have stopped your kids from breaking everything, they are soaked from playing in fountains that you personally cannot figure out WHY they have on display anyway. They have worn wreaths like crowns, shaken all the glass ornament boxes until they jingled (ya we know they are not supposed to jingle) and they have unplugged aprox. 2 million twinkle light displays. There may have been a moment where a few decorated trees fell over but that is between you and the security camera that caught you trying to put it back upright.
Is this sounding familiar?
This is the crap Pinterest doesn't tell you. I am here to tell you how to DIY the right way. Be prepared to write down these steps, and follow them for a guaranteed stress free holiday season.
1. Find a friend that DIY's her holiday season
We all have that or those friends that love crafts. They have the time, resources and LOVE it. It brings them pure joy. Maybe they own a business where they sell their goods.
2. Buy her DIY crafts. This is great, you just supported a friend and you look like an amazing DIY expert. See we are all happy. You are not stressed out, and you don't have to pour kitty litter all over your garage because you spilled red and white paint while trying to paint a sleigh or a sign.
3. Enjoy your house you earned it.
YOU ARE WELCOME.
I went to a DIY pop up party. Two fabulous gals that I am honored to call friends are amazing DIY ladies. Stefanie Rix is the owner of STEM Floral Designs and Shelly is the Owner or Living Lovely DIY. These ladies inspire me... You know inspire me to save up and pay for what they worked hard to make (kidding, not kidding, actually 100% dead serious).
The party was low key, but had all the sophistication of a gorgeous personal shopping experience without the annoying pressure of buying anything. There was champagne with strawberries in it, brownie bites, and cookies. The house was beautifully decorated and Christmas music favorites were playing in the background. Get ready to be inspired. And please click on their links to find out more about buying wreaths. These wreaths are gorgeous and are around $45. The signs and other gifts vary in prices but are mostly under $50. Shelly also creates year round decor and Stefanie creates stunning springtime, summer and fall wreaths as well.
Enjoy!
